Bi-fold doors can be a popular choice when looking
to maximise space and light.
When closed, the expanse of glass offers much bigger
views in comparison to a standard window or door.
In smaller properties, bi-folds can also give the
illusion of space as your eye continues beyond the back of the house.
The
Doors are typically made of aluminium, timber or sometimes both. The advantage
of an aluminium frame is that’s they are lighter. Aluminium bi-fold doors offer
high performance and thermal efficiency. They are generally available in
any RAL colour subject to cost.
The number of leaves is worth thinking about. If
there is an odd number of leaves, it could be possible to open the first leaf
like a standard door which is great if you want to pop into the garden or let
the dog in and out.
An even number of leaves operate in pairs, opening
one leaf results in the second leaf opening and so on. The number of leaves
also determine the amount of frame versus glass.
